GIF OPTIMIZATION

Keep the motion. Lose the weight.

A smaller animation starts with the right dimensions, frame count and color palette. Check visual quality and actual file size after every export.

Product documentation · Updated 2026-10-19

Reduce file size

  1. Resize to the dimensions needed by your destination.
  2. Trim unnecessary frames or remove repeated frames.
  3. Check playback speed and timing after reducing frames.
  4. Use Export Studio’s palette and transparency controls, then download.
  5. Compare file size and motion quality. Repeat only as needed.

Quality tradeoffs

Fewer colors can produce banding. Dithering may improve color appearance while increasing file size. Reducing resolution can make text unreadable. Preview both light and dark backgrounds if the animation is transparent.

No universal file-size guarantee

Final size depends on the actual pixels, duration and palette. Platform limits can change. Presets are starting points; confirm the target platform’s current upload rules and inspect the exported file.
