Remove unwanted pixels
- Import an animation and choose Eraser (E).
- Set brush size and hardness. Choose Current, Selected or All frames.
- Zoom in and erase the background. Use Restore (B) to recover erased source pixels.
- Use the checkerboard and onion-skin view to inspect the result.
- Open Export and inspect both light and dark previews before downloading.
Uniform backgrounds
For a green or other solid-color background, open Editing tools and choose the green-screen tool. Sample the background with the eyedropper, adjust the available tolerance and edge settings, then apply. A color key works best when the subject and background colors are distinct.
Why GIF edges can look rough
GIF supports a palette of up to 256 colors and a single transparent palette entry. Partial transparency is reduced to an on/off threshold. APNG preserves full alpha and is a better choice for soft edges when the destination supports it.
Manual and AI background removal
The eraser and local color keying do not use AI. Automatic AI background removal is a separate TIG service, with separate pricing.
